If I had met you on some journey...

(From sbisson and rowanf, and many others...)

What fictional memories do you have of me?

Invent a memory of me and post it in the comments. It can be anything you want, so long as it's something that's never happened. Then, of course, post this to your journal and see what people would like to remember of you, only the universe failed to cooperate in making it happen so they had to make it up instead.

There was the day you found the giant ants in the garden, and had to go to Homebase to complain about the new fertiliser you'd bought for the lawn. Oh how we laughed when we told you it was Elly trying some new aromatherapy recipes, which went a little wrong...

I won a plane tickets and holiday accomodations for two in Japan and Russell didn't want to go. Off we went in for a lovely holiday, stopping at temples, shopping in Ginza. Our small hotel was an amazing traditional inn with shoji screens and deep, hot tubs. We were so relaxed we almost missed our flights home.

That magical time in New Zealand ...
... how you persuaded them that I was your "official" photographer and got me those plane tickets I'll never know, but the long flight out there was worth it, just to see you do the bunjie jumping off that bridge! I expected all those beads in your hair to go flying out but no, they just clattered musically together and got a round of applause from the children gathered below (the ones waiting to catch wallets, loose change and blackberrys not properly secured in bum bags!)

And that restaurant, with the singing waiters, and how you decided to show them what singing really was and went up to the piano player and asked if he knew any Megadeth and then you and he went into a medley of death metal's greatest hits! Amazing!!

Sorry - no creative juices right now, but:

"If I had met you on some journey..."
"Where would we be now?"

I can remember the next line of the lyric but now who is singing or what the song is... ;-(

Susan Vega ;-)
it's called Some Journey and it's from, I think, her second album

If I had met you on some journey
Where would we be now
If we had met some eastbound train
Through some black sleeping town

Would you have worn your silken robes
All made of royal blue?
Would I have dressed in smoke and fire
For you to see through?

If we had met in a darkened room
Where people do not stay
But shadows touch and pass right through
And never see the day

Would you have taken me upstairs
And turned the lamplight low?
Would I have shown my secret self
And disappeared like the snow?

Oh, I could have played your little girl
Or I could have played your wife
I could have played your mistress
Running danger down through you life

I could have played your lady fair
All dressed in lace like the foam from the sea
I could have been your woman of the road
As long as you did not come back home to me

But as it is, we live in the city
And everything stays in place
Instead we meet on the open sidewalk
And it's well I know your face

We talk and talk, we tell the truth
There are no shadows here
But when I look into your eyes
I wonder what might have been here

Because if I had met you on some journey
Where would we be now?
