Sunny San Francisco

The winter timetable means the flight to San Francisco leaves much earlier in the morning, which means not enough time for breakfast in the lounge. It was a little early for one of the pilots too; they took ill and the replacement had to drive down from Manchester, so we took off rather late and had to go round in circles around the bay a few times to get a slot. Greenland still covered in snow, sea still frozen.

We jogged into immigration just ahead of the KLM flight and Robert&Carol very kindly picked us up and dusted us down and pointed us at sunshine and Miette, the splendid local candy shop. For staying awake we alternated petting kitties and hanging out and eating lebanese and italian and going to a lecture on sexual positions.

After the great pyrex potato disaster (large massy hot objects in glass cool unevenly enough to induce explosions) we went to Stacks for scrambles and pancakes and then to Blue Bottle coffee for wonderful mocha and latte. We had excellent rental fu and ended up with a much larger car, which made it easy to drop the bags we won't need next week at Kurt & Marina's and pay rent with strawberry cider and hang out a little before heading to Potlach to be argumentative about books. And here we are!
