Just across from the hotel is a waterfront park with a view of the Statue of Liberty, huge flowers like plates, ferrys and river taxis speeding past, swooping sparrows and a man with headphones drumming on a digital drum in his lap. No noise, great rhythm.
The creepy bit; a dead bird centred in front of the plaque of the holocaust museum, head bent back. The cheerful bit; hand chalked mosaics on the hexagonal concrete tile. The beautiful bit; two huge butterfly sipping nectar and dancing in the air over the flowers, tiny butterflies the size of my thumbnail and a big fat bee working his way from floret to floret across the flower bed.
Down to the ferry terminal; a very striking cutout of a soldier for the war memorial.
Castle Clinton, where Jenny Lind Sang and an aquarium and a processing centre for immigrants. Off to splash in the fountain, which has variable jets that make a lovely rhythm!
