Favourite music

I really ought to make an effort to go to gigs other than at the Royal Festival Hall, I suppose; I think every band we've seen recently has been there, from Marc Almond to Jan Garbarek. Monday night we went to see Tony Benn and (a Tory with rather specious arguments)David Davies debate in a public meeting. But then they keep having the concerts I want to see, and it's pretty convenient to get to from here. And yes, they keep having the concerts I want to see; this time it's Ludovico Einaudi, who I heard on Classic FM one morning - it was so good it drove me to the Classic FM Web site to track down the track (Duo tramonte) and now it's my standard 'work music' along with Elysium's Auvergne Chants, Samuel Aguilar's ambient music for the Jameos del Agua in Lanzarote, Jan Garbarek and the Hilliard Ensemble and the soundtrack to Sneakers. Einaudi did the music for a film called Fuori dal mondo about a novice nun who finds a baby, is wracked by maternal instinct and tries to track down the mother, who works in a dry cleaners. It sounds very BBC 2 but the reviews are excellent and I'd love to hear the music in context. None of Giuseppe Piccioni's movies seem to be on DVD though...

Einaudi etc
If you like Einaudi you will love Wim Mertens. Go batter Simon till he tells you what he did with the Mertens I gave him.

Elysium's Auvergne Chants
Hi Mary,
As a member of Elysium, I periodically do a search on the web for us and our CDs, and I came across this entry of yours in your Blog! I haven't a clue why it didn't turn up earlier, considering this entry is from 2002. At any rate, I wanted to thank you for your kind comments on our work!
Take care!
