  • Mood:

surreal

In the pouring rain, children with lanterns run across sheets of newspaper to form a face, a dove, the words seek peace. As the downpour continues a stately parae of morris minors glide around to the tune of Carmina Burana, Elgar and finally Strauss; the cars glide to a halt and out burst ballroom dancers who waltz, samba and vogue in the pouring rain. gold taxis encircle the dancers as a disco beats strikes up... not one my weird dreams, this is the closing ceremony for the Commonwealth Games. Impressive - people as pixels - but Orff-driven morries are quite surreal, as are the soaking but immaculate dancers, the beams of light turning the rain into coloured static, the Queen under a see-through umbrella and the arrival of - a dj!
