I wanted to see the TechRadar piece, to see if the potential lockout of what MS like to call 'older' OSes is mentioned, but the whole site looks to have problems.

Several different (but old) versions of nginx are giving 502 errors if you go off the front page.

It works in every browser I've tried - it loads a lot of external crud and popups but I block those in my browser and the site still loads.

Lockout? Microsoft is specifying a feature in the UEFI spec called secure boot that checks boot components against a checksum database. It would only block older OSes including Windows 7 if the OEMs are stupid enough to leave off the option to turn off secure boot which is unlikely - Dell and HP have already said they won't stop you turning it off. so now the FUD has changed to saying even more stupid things about distribution of the keys that secure the checksum database. the FSF is just embarrassing itself at this point... Is there a problem about secure key distribution for free OS distributions? Yes and it's their problem to solve. Does the average user want to manage a cryptographic key pair system? It is to laugh. That's my less politic version.
