Shome Mishtake Shurely - IE8

IE8 is trying to mine your browsing patterns to remind you of sites you might want to go back to, based on what you're currently looking at and what other people look at (Pandora for pages). If I look at a recipe site, I might like a reminder that there's another food site I look at sometimes. In the beta this doesn't always work very well - it doesn't have a lot of my browsing history and frankly it gets the tabs wrong, sometimes to hilarious effect, as in this anti-capitalism protest marked up as being like, well, capitalism...

I think they're all trying to do crap like this. FF3 has turned entering a URL into the browser bar into a game of trying to outwit its internal search mechanism. In FF2, you entered the first couple of letters of the URL and bang the one you wanted popped up from your previous visits. In FF3, that might happen or you might get something completely unrelated. I've learned to type instead the most unusual word in the address or title - and even then sometimes it throws up completely inexplicable matches. And Chrome is just crazy because it searches Google at the same time.

I guess the idea (esp for IE and FF) is to wrest control of your entire browsing experience and build in search, but it sure isn't ready for prime time.
