The Blueeye plugs into the audio jack of an MP3 player, sends the music to your mobile (by Bluetooth) and mutes the music when you get a call. Doesn't look like much, but it sounds nfty.

Um, not quite Mary. The BlueEye sits in line, like so...

[ Ipod ] ---> [ BlueEye ] ---> Headphones

It has a built in mic, and when a call comes in, it mutes the headphones and switches to being a bluetooth headset.

It's also £60. If you don't need the functionality in as pretty (but a slightly more useful form), then there's the iTech iClip, which does the same thing and costs £40 (which I have, excellent little device).

Is this the device you're talking about? What's the quality of stereo audio over bluetooth like?

No, that one is has a Bluetooth adapter for the iPod, and works kinda like the NaviPlay from Ten Technologies.

The problem with them is simple, they rely on the remote to do all the amplification to the headphones, not the amp in the ipod, and use the remotes power to drive the headphones.

Sound quality BTW, it's functional but not fabulous, which is why I went for the wire based solution; less things to charge up too...

This is the iClip M

True. The Bluetooth dongle would also make a full-sized iPod even more bulky than it already is.

ah - I was misled by the Sparkfun site's description; not quite as interesting then ;-)
