Looking at the nucler test photos rowanf mentioned, I'm struck by how calm it looks from a distance - the smooth edge of the craters, the lazy plumes of smoke - and the utter beauty of the plume against the desert sky, the colours in the cloud... and the visceral sense of terror they induce in me.

I guess a sense of awe isn't inappropriate - but it weirds me to appreciate atomic explosions aesthetically!

Well, only two were deliberately used to kill people, so why not treat the other hundreds as accidental art? Ought to try and get something good out of them...
