Save London's Chinatown

There's an epetition at http://www.ipetitions.com/campaigns/save-chinatown/ to sign up against the plans to redevlop London's Chinatown into yet another mall, demolishing the pagoda in Newport Place. The Min Quan - Save Chinatown Web site (found by ramtops) has more details and says they'll be collecting signatures in London Chinatown every Sunday from 12 - 2 pm, by the Pagoda so I think we'll try to find out the state of the campaign. They were due to hand in a postcard petition to Westminster Council in late December but there's no news on the site. I'm also planning to email mayor@london.gov.uk to see if it's within the purview of Our Ken to help...

It is a crying shame if they don't save this part of Chinatown.. This one has been rumbling for a while, it even made the BBC London Evening News last year.. I heard in one of the Radio Interviews Mayor Ken did in November he was asked about this and he gave quite a dismissive answer..
